People often ask me why I don’t have children. Truth be known…I have
eight of them!
Okay, so I have never given birth to (or legally adopted) a child. But the two people I love most
in the world have given birth to eight beautiful, amazing and incredibly special little spirits. My older sister has five
of them while my little sister has three. Add ‘em all up and I have six handsome, strong yet tender nephews and two
gorgeous, sweet and princess like nieces. Each of them holds in their little hands a piece of my heart.
And while
they aren’t technically my children, I love them as if they were. I often joke that it’s probably easier to love
them since I don’t have to endure the sick days, the screaming, yelling, fighting, etc. I get to spoil them and then
leave the mess to their parents to clean up! I do, however, try to set a good example for them and teach them a few things
about life. I spend every vacation visiting them and I make an effort to be involved in their daily lives despite living hundreds
of miles away. I want them to know they have my unconditional support and love, so I inquire about the soccer games, the scout
camps, the first day of school, report cards, etc. I try to be with them for life’s big events (birthdays, baptisms,
trips). When they cry, I cry. When they laugh, I can’t help but laugh with them. I snuggle with them, hold them, play
with them and miss them tremendously when I’m not with them. But mostly, I just try to love them and build a legacy
that is worthy of them.
So, let me introduce you to my inspiration, my hope, and my joy in life…
